The Dryden Native Friendship Centre is currently accepting resumes for the position of Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Coordinator.  Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin is a wholistic program that supports healthy relationships and Indigenous identities through the provision of programming, supports, education, leadership, and capacity building.

Schedule:

Regular full-time hours. Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, 35 hours per week. Some flexibility to meet program needs.

This position is a regular full-time employment opportunity and is eligible for group retirement, extended benefits, and paid time off.

Job Duties:

• Provide peer counselling/support for a variety of situations and facilitate group sessions
• Provide culture-based programming emphasizing the end of violence, personal growth, community involvement, and similar topics
• Provide aid and support for clients who are involved with Child and Family Service agencies as well as navigating terms of probation and parole
• Facilitate safe spaces for male community members
• Offer prevention-based programing to male community members
• Track information as per the DNFC reporting requirements and submit appropriate reports as required
• Case management and maintain individual case files for clients
• Implement participant-based activities such as: workshops, presentations, support groups, and traditional activities
• Build and maintain relationships with traditional Elders and cultural teachers to enhance the program and provide access to traditional knowledge and teachings for clients
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, social work, court justice, and/or combination of an equivalent and relevant education. Lived experience may be considered equivalent.
• 3 years of related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community.
• Possess current First-Aid/CPR certification or willing to be certified.
• An acceptable Criminal Reference Check, Vulnerable Sector, will be a condition of the employment offer.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license; a good Driver’s Abstract will be required.
• Must have excellent computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with emphasis on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach.
• Knowledge and experience working with urban Indigenous men and male youth in a healing and reconciliation capacity.
• Experience in facilitation, program planning, development, implementation, data collection and evaluation.
• Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to speak Ojibway or Oji-Cree is an asset.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
•  Lived experience as an Indigenous male may be considered an asset but is not required. All individuals are welcome to apply.

Work Conditions & Remuneration

• Working in a shared office environment
• $25-27.50 per hour
