The Dryden Native Friendship Centre (DNFC) is currently accepting resumes for Indigenous Healing and Wellness Coordinator (HWC).

The purpose of this position is to ensure that the healing and wellness needs of the Indigenous community are addressed by implementing the Indigenous Healing and Wellness Strategy at the local level in order to reduce family violence, promote healthy lifestyles, culture-based programming and healing.

Schedule:

Regular full-time hours. Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, 35 hours per week. Some flexibility to meet program needs.

This position is a regular full-time employment opportunity and is eligible for group retirement, extended benefits, and paid time off.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

• Create case notes for clients and create a care plan for each
• Facilitate one-to-one and group sessions for a wide range of age groups
• Facilitate land-based activities
• Track statistics and meet reporting requirements outlined by the program
• Facilitate training and information sessions on specific issues pertaining to the Indigenous community
• Foster healing and positive spaces
• Foster relationships and create working relationship with other organizations as it relates to this program
• Build strong relationships with clients
• Refer clients to appropriate services based on needs
• Promote violence free lifestyles through programming
• Promote Indigenous culture-based family healing
• Develop and implement healing circles, peer support groups and self-help processes to assist in community healing, anger management, positive self-image development, alternative discipline methods and positive relationships
• Collaborate with other Friendship Centre programs and staff to promote a coordinated approach to healing and wellness
• Facilitate the involvement of elders and traditional people, who have undergone their own healing and wellness journey, in the Indigenous Healing and Wellness Program
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess a degree or diploma in social services, health care, or a related field. Lived experience and other relevant certifications may be considered equivalent.
• An acceptable Criminal Reference Check, Vulnerable Sector, will be a condition of the employment offer.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with good driving records; will be required to provide Driver’s Abstract.
• Possess current First-Aid/CPR certification or be willing to be certified
• Must have excellent computer skills; Working knowledge of MS Word & data entry
• Demonstrated organizational skills and time management capabilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication skills – written & oral
• Skills and experience in presenting workshops and facilitating groups
• Ability to speak Ojibwe or Oji-cree is an asset
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions is an asset
• Experience with Government reporting is an asset
• Experience with budgeting is an asset
• Good interpersonal skills

Work Conditions & Remuneration:

• Working in a shared office environment
• $22.00-$24.00 hourly rate
