The Conservative party is the first one out of the gate in securing a candidate for the Kenora riding in the upcoming Federal election.
Kenora’s Eric Melillo has been acclaimed.
Melillo is currently completing a degree in Economics at Lakehead University.
He has previous employment experience as a political staffer, associate within a consulting firm, and a public policy researcher.
Melillo stresses it’s time for new representation adding he’s excited about the opportunity to bring positive change to the riding and across the country.
He says “with a responsible Conservative government led by Andrew Scheer, we will support the job creators who build our economy, protect our vital services and help everyone get ahead, not just get by.
Melillo notes fiscal responsibility will be top of mind in the upcoming election.
He says more debt today means less services and higher taxes for future generations.
Melillo says current Liberal taxes are chasing away jobs, making life more unaffordable and eliminating opportunities to plan and save for the feature.
He goes on to say the government has betrayed the trust of northerners by failing to deliver for our communities.
Melillo adds “this election is a clear choice between a tired, scandal plagued Liberal party or new representation from a strong local voice.”
Liberal incumbent MP Bob Nault has suggested but not confirmed that he will seek re-election.
