Early Childhood Educator Resource Consultant

The Dryden Native Friendship Centre (DNFC) is seeking a reliable, motivated Early Childhood Educator Resource Consultant responsible for providing safe and developmentally appropriate individualized learning programs for children in a curriculum emergent environment with family aged daycare children, aged 0 to 12.

SCHEDULE:

Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30 pm. Full time hours of 35 hours/week. Some flexibility based on program needs.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

• Create and implement Individual Support Plans in accordance with the needs of the child the plan pertains to.
• Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation, filing, and position documents.
• Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding the development and behaviour of their child(ren).
• Provide support to classroom staff.
• Administer observation strategies and screening tools to interpret and document children’s learning and to identify children with challenges.
• Provide and develop resources necessary to support Individual Support Plan objectives.
• Participate in and lead case conferences regarding children as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ontario Early Childhood Education Diploma & Resource Consultant Certificate or equivalent.
• Must be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Current First Aid, including Infant/Child CPR
• Satisfactory Criminal Record – Vulnerable Sector Check will be a condition of employment
• Up to date Immunization Record including TB Skin Test will be a condition of employment
• General knowledge of childcare philosophies, licensing regulations, and pertinent legislation related to daycare operations.
• 2 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred
• Ability to speak Ojibwe/Oji-Cree is an asset
• An understanding of Ministry of Education’s document “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years”.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and accepted best practices
• Demonstrated understanding of child development
• Ability to multitask
• Excellent communication skills – written & oral
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions is an asset
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

WORK CONDITIONS & REMUNERATION:

• Working in a shared office environment and daycare setting
• $30.00 – $34.00 Hourly Rate
