We are currently seeking to hire two (2) Permanent, Full-Time, Early Years Quality Assurance Coordinators (“EYQAC”) located in Dryden, Ontario to join our Early Years team.  This position will also oversee programming in Machin and Ignace; therefore, some travel will be required. The successful candidates will work 8 hours daily, scheduled between the hours of 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday.  Our employees enjoy a healthy work environment, development opportunities, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

Reporting to the Early Years Program Supervisor, the EYQAC is responsible for overseeing the delivery of licensed early learning and care program(s), ensuring high quality, inclusive programming for children and families.

Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee the daily operations of licensed early learning and care program(s).
• Ensure that all programs meet legal requirements by monitoring compliance as recommended in the Child Care and Early Years Act, Child and Family Services Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Ensure the Ministry of Education’s document “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years” document is being implemented within early learning and care programs. Ensure culturally appropriate programming and activities are developed, implemented and offered to families.
• Ensure all Kenora District Services Board (KDSB), local Health Unit, and Ministry of Education policies and directives are implemented and followed.
• Ensure all required inspections are completed and accurately recorded, including monthly fire drills and annual fire inspection; daily, monthly and annual playground inspections; health inspections and safe drinking water records.
• Ensure adequate equipment is provided and facilities are clean, well maintained and safe at all times. Repair and monitor any deficiencies reported.
• Assist RECE in Charge to complete licensing requirements and review annual licencing visit summary to address recommendations and non-compliance observed by the Ministry of Education Program Advisor.
• Monitor and ensure the Child Care Licensing System (CCLS) is current with staffing placement and requirements.
• Report serious occurrences in the Child Care Licensing System (CCLS) and assign a designate in absence. Assist programs in emergency situations, such as serious occurrences or lock downs.
• Monitor communicable diseases, absences and illnesses and ensure they are reported to Northwestern Health Unit when required.
• Work with Early Years Supervisor to manage the early learning and care waitlist and determine child placement within early learning and care programs.
• Inform RECE In Charge of any new enrolments and refers new family to program for orientation.
• Work collaboratively with the Inclusion Quality Assurance and Training Coordinator to ensure Individualized Support Plans for children with special needs are in place and compliant for licensing.
• Make recommendations that support the needs of parents and community.
• Provide mentorship and support to the RECE In Charge as required when addressing parent/guardian issues and concern and to address any concerns observed with staff members in order to maintain compliance and resolve the situation. Take corrective action when needed.
• Monitor kitchen staff to ensure all requirements pertaining to the safety and well-being of children are being met including; ensure allergy and food restrictions are followed, purchasing and preparing healthy menu options, implementation of sanitary practices and Safe Food Handling requirements.
• Prepare and provide reports required by KDSB and the Ministry of Education as needed.
• Oversee RECEs In Charge: this includes day to day operational requirements, including but not limited orientation, assignments, reviewing and monitoring compliance and providing advice and guidance.
• Assist KDSB Human Resource Department to recruit and hire staff for early learning and care programs. Ensure Ministry of Education and other related legislated requirements are obtained prior to employment.
• Participate in regular network and team/staff meetings as required.
• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities such as workshops, conferences and meetings. Prepare report and share with colleagues and/or staff information learned during these opportunities.
• Monitor purchases, coding of vendor invoices and credits and report any errors to the KDSB Finance.
• Supervise children when required.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Successful candidates will have or be able to obtain:

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education (and a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators) or comparable, or Diploma in Office Administration, Business Administration or comparable from a recognized college.
• Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Supervisory experience in an early years or child care program preferred (although supervisory experience in other sectors would also be considered), with a demonstration of no non-compliances through the licensing process.
• A thorough knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
• Proficient utilization of computers and child care management software.
• Current First Aid, including Infant/Child CPR.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Up to date immunization record.
• Required to possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle for travel or the ability to rent.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
