Speech Language Pathologist
Speech Language Pathologist will provide a range of services to our schools in Deer Lake First Nation, Keewaywin First Nation, Poplar Hill First Nation, Fort Severn First Nation, and North Spirit Lake First Nation including, but not limited to, the administration and interpretation of assessments, report writing, development of individualized and/or group program plans, delivery of therapy over video conference/telemedicine, professional development and in-services, IEP development and participation in case conferences. The Speech Language Pathologist will oversee the delivery of service to students.
The Speech Language Pathologist will be working collaboratively with a speech-language team as well as with the other board staff.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Providing treatment and consultation for clients from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in the following areas: articulation, language, fluency, Autism Spectrum Disorder, motor speech and AAC.
• Participating in professional development activities for school staff members as well as public education for parents/guardians.
• Developing new programs and services as well as therapy activities.
• Documenting intervention in client charts
• Extensive travel to fly-in KO member First Nations
• Other Duties as assigned by Vice Principal, K-12 and Community Education or Director of Education.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Registered and a member in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech
Language Pathologists of Ontario
• Experience in collecting and reporting statistics
• Knowledge of the complex multi-layered structure of health and social program targeted to
children with developmental delays or disabilities and their families
• Effective decision making and leadership qualities;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstration and oral presentation abilities.
• Knowledge of children’s mental health, family systems and developmental issues.
• An ability to work collaboratively with other professionals within and outside of the Centre
• Understanding of and/or work experience with Indigenous Peoples and First Nations
communities.
• Flexible and organized with good planning/time management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
• Excellent organizational skills
• Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
• A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
• Current valid Criminal Record Check
Salary range: $82,115 – $99,812 based on education and experience.
