Environment Canada has put a tornado watch in place for multiple municipalities in the region.
The watch was put in place around 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, with it expected to remain in place through the evening.
Kenora, Grassy Narrows, White Dog, Fort Frances, Emo, and Rainy River are dealing with the watch.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes,” says Environment Canada in a release. “Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible.”
They added that thunderstorms over Minnesota moving into the region are the cause of the watch.
