The Superior International Junior Hockey League is gearing up for another season.
Training camps are just opening, and the first games will take place in about two weeks.
Dean Thibodeau is the league’s new commissioner and says he has visited most of the markets in the league.
“Everyone is excited and there’s a lot of positivity within each locker room, every front office and of course each of the individual communities,” says Thibodeau.
“The communities are really buying in. They’re supporting their teams, and everybody involved with those teams are committed to putting on a good product to pay it back.”
Thibodeau says his goal for the league is not just to provide entertaining hockey, but to groom good hockey players.
“Being able to provide development and growth opportunities for the players is, I think, very important. Not just on the ice, but off the ice as well. Considering the full person, the development of the full person is something we’re going to focus on.”
The league will start up its regular season on September 13th with three games.
