The province is making more money available for the second intake for the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.
Infrastructure Minister Kinga Surma says it’s part of their goal of building more homes faster in Ontario.
“In response to the high demand for this program our government is investing an additional $250 million to launch a second intake allowing more municipalities to apply for funding to support their local water infrastructure needs,” Surma told a press conference in London, Ontario Monday.
About half of the new funding, $120 million will go towards small, rural and northern municipalities without housing targets.
Surma adds applications to the extra funding can now be made.
“We are currently accepting applications until November 1st under the second intake, and of course I encourage all eligible municipalities to apply.”
She says this on top of the $400 million announced last week for other infrastructure upgrades under the Housing Enabling Core Stream fund.
