Summer McIntosh and Ethan Katzberg will be Team Canada’s flag bearers at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
Seventeen-year-old McIntosh claimed four medals at the 2024 summer games. She swam to silver in the women’s 400m freestyle, then golds in the 400m IM, 200m butterfly and 200m IM. McIntosh is the first Canadian to ever win three gold medals at a single Olympic Games.
Katzberg achieved the gold medal-distance on his first throw of the final. His 84.12m throw meant Canada’s first hammer throw medal in 112 years.
Andre De Grasse and Maude Charron led Team Canada into the opening ceremony.
Both went on to deliver outstanding performances during the games that took them to the podium. Charron grabbed silver in the women’s 59kg weightlifting class. De Grasse anchored our 4x100m relay team to a golden victory.
Team Canada had an impressive medal count of 27, including 9 gold medals at the Paris Olympics. It’s the nation’s most successful non-boycotted Olympic Summer Games.
Sunday’s closing ceremony will take place at 9:00 p.m. local time / 3:00 p.m. ET. at Stade de France.
Los Angeles will host the Olympic Summer Games in 2028.
