The LCBO is walking back on its plans to open select stores starting this Friday.
The crown corporation says it will not be opening any of its outlets while the strike by OPSEU is on-going.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario initially announced it would open 32 stores on July 19th.
But the LCBO has since had a change of heart since OPSEU indicated it would picket those stores.
Instead, it says it will be re-allocating resources to other areas of their operations, including online shopping.
The LCBO released this statement:
“This pivot means that we will be able to improve how we serve Ontario bars and restaurants to help increase product selection, availability, and expedited delivery.”
“This means LCBO retail stores will no longer be open for the duration of the strike.”
No new talks are scheduled between the two sides to end the strike.
