Dryden’s own Dr. Sasha Reid to star in a documentary that will air on Disney+ and Hulu.
The new series called “Sasha Reid & The Midnight Order” will introduce an all-female team if investigators who study the minds of serial killers.
It will center on the group’s investigation of infamous serial killer Robert Pickton, who was recently attacked while in prison and later died.
Reid says at a young age, she realized people can be monsters. This inspired her to study psychology and homicide in grad school.
She began creating databases in 2016 that track missing and murdered individuals in Canada, which led to putting together an investigative team called the Midnight Order.
“I was looking for people who had passion,” said Reid in an interview. “Passion about victims and advocacy and justice and learning.”
Since creating the team, they have been able to make a huge impact. It all started with having a place to store the names of people who have gone missing or been murdered.
“We came up with ideas of what we can do with the data and how it should be used,” said Reid. “So, we decided we have to be able to identify geographically where hot spots are and how to better alert communities.”
She says they talked to dozens of families affected by this and hear frustration. These people do not feel heard and want to do more to help others who have also lost loved ones.
“I want this show to revive people’s interest in victims and their stories.”
The documentary has been in the making for five years and made its debut on Tuesday via Freeform. It will stream on Hulu and Disney+ in the fall.
