The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board will present its budget this week.
In terms of capital projects, the public-school board isn’t planning anything extravagant in the next year.
Director of Education Christy Radbourne says they have a couple of childcare projects they are working on.
“Daycare expansions are being completed at Ignace and Lilian Berg School (Vermilion Bay) as we speak,” states Radbourne in an end of school year interview.
“We have a number of other daycares in the works, including Sioux Narrows and Crolancia (Pickle Lake) as well. Those are partnerships with the KDSB (Kenora District Services Board).
Radbourne says for the most part they are just working to make sure their schools are in good shape for the students.
“There are number of repairs going on. There is some cement and sidewalk work going on in different places. So much of our capital budget will go to renewal and facilities, so that we can have schools that are really joyful places to learn in.”
The KPDSB will present its budget for the 2024/25 school year at a special meeting on July 4th.
