Micheal Sean Sharpe, 42, of Thunder Bay, ON, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 15th, 2023 in a tragic workplace accident.
Micheal was born November 4th, 1981, in Camrose, AB. The family moved to Calgary in 1982, and to Northwestern Ontario, where he would make his permanent home, in 1995.
Micheal graduated from Dryden High School in 1999, afterwards he attended the University of Toronto, and then returned to NWO, completing his degree at Lakehead University.
Micheal was raised by his loving mother Josephine and he developed countless friendships along the way.
Mike met Jess, the love of his life, his light, his rock, his world, in Thunder Bay in 2002, and they were married in 2009. It took Jess three days to decide that she wanted to marry him. Jess, it took Mike 3 minutes. Together they shared a profound and deep love, and had two beautiful children, Adam and Emily.
Mike was a great man, a loving husband, a proud father, and wonderful friend. He had a beautiful smile, an enormous laugh! And an even bigger heart.
Mike was always ready to help a friend and he gave of himself often.
He was a brilliant student, I think he was often confused why things were so hard for everybody else, but he took it in stride, and was a great tutor to his friends.
He was a lover of comedy, especially stand-up and improv, he’d frequently make us laugh until we couldn’t breathe.
He was an avid musician, played a mean guitar, and enjoyed a wide variety of music.
Mike loved all things science fiction and fantasy. We played countless games of Magic together, a joy he was able to share with his children years later. He had a Star Trek reference, or a Seinfeld joke ready for any occasion, many of which were probably only understood by Jess.
Micheal is predeceased by his Grandmother Dora, Grandfather Ormand, and Uncle Nigel. He is survived by his wife, partner, and soulmate, Jessica, and their children, Adam and Emily; his mother, Josephine, brother Jordan, Aunt Carmen, and Uncles, Michael, Douglas, and Anthony.
Mike had a positive and indelible effect on all of us who were privileged enough to know him. He is sadly missed, and fondly remembered.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
