The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has cleared officers with the OPP in connection to an incident in McLeod Park.
The SIU says on the morning of May 1st, the OPP were on foot patrol when they came across a man lying on the railway tracks.
As they approached the man, he rose to his feet and advanced on the officers with a knife.
Police drew their firearms and additional officers were called to the scene.
One of the officers fired an ARWEN, and non-lethal anti-riot weapon, and struck the suspect in the lower back.
He was still in possession of the knife and climbed over the railing of the bridge and sat on the ledge.
After some negotiations, he threw his knife away and was arrested and taken into custody.
The SIU says there was no reasonable grounds to believe there was a criminal offense in connection to discharging the ARWEN.
