The Dryden GM Ice Dogs have closed the gap for first place in the SIJHL standings.
The Ice Dogs won a pair of games over the weekend, including an 8-3 win Saturday night against the Wisconsin Lumberjacks.
That followed up on a 4-0 shutout against the Lumberjacks Friday night.
The Kam River Fighting Walleye won only one of three games played over the weekend.
Yesterday, the Walleye were beaten 4-3 in overtime by the Red Lake Miners.
Kam River also split their games against the Sioux Lookout Bombers losing 4-1 Saturday night, but winning 2-0 Friday night.
The Walleye now have 76 points, which the Ice Dogs have 69 points, but have a game in hand.
Elsewhere, the Fort Frances Lakers lost a pair of games over the weekend.
There were beaten 9-2 yesterday by the Thunder Bay North Stars.
The Lakers also lost 6-5 in overtime Saturday afternoon against the North Stars.
In the OUA West hockey playoffs, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves lost 4-2 Saturday night at the Fort William Gardens to the Windsor Lancers.
The Lancers win the best-of-three playoff series 2-1.
