The Dryden Eagles girls hockey team has won NorWOSSA gold medal.
The Eagles downed the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints 3-1 last night to win the best-of-three final in two games straight.
Molly McMurrich had the second goal of the game for Dryden with assists from Megan Lundmark and Riah Compardo.
The Eagles third goal was scored by Kyla Calvert assisted by Peyton Borton.
Dryden will now advance to the OFSAA championships in Stratford March 21st to 23rd.
In the SIJHL last night, there were a couple of shutouts.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs blanked the Wisconsin Lumberjacks 4-0.
Brady Frattinger had a three point night with a two goals and an assist, while Zac MacDonald earned the shutout making 27 saves.
The same two teams will do battle tonight in Dryden.
In the only other game, the Kam River Fighting Walleye downed the Sioux Lookout Bombers 2-0.
Eric Vanska made 34 saves in the win.
The Fighting Walleye will face off against the Bombers again tonight while the Fort Frances Lakers have a Saturday afternoon matinee in Thunder Bay against the North Stars.
In the Ontario University Hockey League, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves got by the Windsor Lancers Friday night 2-1 in overtime to tie the OUA West final at 1-1.
The third and deciding game will be played tonight at the Fort William Gardens.
