Unifor has reached a deal on three tentative contracts with Domtar covering more than 450 members in Dryden.
The new contract cover 225 members in Local 105, which includes production, maintenance, and office employees at the Pulp Mill as well as another 225 woodlands harvesting, chipping and trucking workers in Local 324.
Unifor Local National Representative Stephen Boon says talks broke down with Domtar on November 17, but the union agreed to resume negotiations in an attempt to secure new deals prior to moving ahead with planned strike votes and conciliation.
Boon says the agreements include major monetary and language improvements.
Specific details aren’t being released at this time but Boon says all three contracts achieve Unifor’s Eastern Canada Pulp and Paper Pattern and they are unanimously recommending acceptance at voting to be held this week.
The last collective deals expired at the end of August.
