Robert “Bob” Latimer
May 31, 1933- December 11, 2022
A Celebration of life will take place on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Oxdrift Hall.
In loving memory of Bob Latimer who passed away peacefully, with family by his side.
Bob was born and raised in the Dryden area, although he would say Oxdrift, and would spend his entire life there. In 1954 he attended the Ontario Agriculture College in Guelph completing a two year program. Following this he returned home to Oxdrift to work with his father on the family farm while also joining his brother Glenn in the trucking business.
A major turning point in Bob’s life occurred in 1957 when he suffered a ruptured appendix and was nursed back to health at Lake of the Woods Hospital by a young nurse named Doreen. One year later they were married.
Together they lived a wonderful life in Oxdrift where Bob continued to operate the family farm and they began a family of their own. Eventually he started to work at the local paper mill as a truck driver- a job he loved-and did so until he retired. After retiring, when Bob finally had some free time, he took up showing horses, curling and golfing- even making a hole in one in his 70’s.
He was an avid sports fan- especially when it involved his grandchildren with whom he loved to spend time.
Bob is survived by his wife of sixty four years, Doreen and his three children- Brad, Debbie (Russ) and Janice (David.) Grandchildren-Kevin (Sarah), Dana (Brady), Andrew and Angela (Mike.) His brother Glenn and sister Shirley. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Eva.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Dryden Regional Health Center for their care and kindness.
