With heavy hearts we announce Don Amodeo passed away on Nov 13,2022 in Winnipeg at the age of 68 years.
He is survived by his only son Josh Amodeo (Caitlin) and his grandchildren Abby and Brandon Amodeo. He is also survived by his brothers, Dale, Morley, and Rob; as well as his sister Bernice. He was predeceased by his mother Brenda; father Joe; brother Mike; and his best friend Chris Brisson.
Don was born in Dryden Ontario on April 12, 1954. He grew up in a small home on Second street with his family, but his love for this small town never changed. Years after he left for Winnipeg to pursue aviation, he was back in Dryden after buying Thunder Lake Lodge in 1994, this is where he spent the best times of his life. He loved Relaxing with family, fishing, boating and cool fall days out driving the old bush roads hunting partridge.
Don lived a fulfilled life with multiple different passions, He started very early in life working for Colenso hauling wood and running heavy equipment in a bush camp. Once he left Dryden, he started working on aircraft with his dad Joe and uncle George at Manwest Aviation in Winnipeg. During this time, he also started working for Canadian Airlines flying all over with the aircraft, from Mexico and Cuba all the way up North to Hall Beach. This passion quickly turned into his life. He started Amodeo Enterprise in 1985 which he ran until he sold it in 1998 to pursue retirement and spend time at the lake. This was short lived as a few years after retirement he changed his mind and came back to Winnipeg as the base manager for Morningstar Air Express doing aircraft maintenance. He loved the fact he could work beside his son Josh. Over the years Don became a pillar to so many people with his eagerness to always help everyone. Before he left this world his greatest passion became being a grandfather to his joys Abby-doo and Brandon.
Don will be greatly missed in this life; the impact he left on so many will never be forgotten.
As per his final wishes there will be no formal services, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
