A major cash injection for the Dryden Ski Club (DSC).
They have received $65,250 from the Dryden Trailblazer Tourism Association (DTTA) to complete a number of upgrades.
Club Downhill Coordinator Matt Corbett says this will support Phase 1 of their terrain park modernization projects.
The first updates will include the purchase of 16 terrain park features for beginners, to intermediate to advanced riders, signage improvements and line up the club for hosting a freestyle and slush cup event.
Corbett says future plans include, “Improvements with the lighting infrastructure and looking also at hill remediation work. We need to improve the infrastructure on the hill. We want to make improvements for where these rail features and everything are going and also looking at improving accessibility on the hill.”
DTTA officials say the project aligns very well with their mandate to advance the City of Dryden as a tourist destination by supporting and promoting local events, initiatives and infrastructure that attract people to the community.
They add the Dryden Ski Club is endeavouring to evolve alongside its provincial counterparts by developing a progressive beginner level to intermediate terrain park that attracts all levels and abilities of athletes.
The statement goes on to say, “Improving the DSC terrain park will support the development of area youth in winter snow sports and offer a state-of-the-art venue to host local and regional competitive events for these athletes, and those from surrounding regions, to participate in.”
