A plea for assistance from the Think Turtle Conservation Initiative.
Managing Director Kelly Wallace says a Dryden resident was doing work on his property when they accidentally dug up a turtles nest.
“There’s hatchlings and turtle eggs that are basically stuck in Dryden and we just want to arrange a ride for them from Dryden to Sudbury where they will be admitted to a first responder.
Wallace says, “There they will get the proper care they need until a drive is arranged to get the eggs/hatchlings to Ontario’s Turtle Hospital in Peterborough.
She says both organizations would be grateful if someone could bring them to Sudbury if they are making a trip east.
Wallace notes the hatchlings will spend the winter at the Turtle Hospital and then in the spring they will be brought back to Dryden to their point of origin and they will be released.
If you can help out call the hospital at 1-705-741-5000 or the Think Turtle Conservation Initiative at 1-647-606-9537.
