It wasn’t the result the Dryden Eagles High School Football team was looking for but in the end it was a very successful season.
Kildonan East shutdown the Eagles offence en route to a 30-0 win in the championship game of the Winnipeg High School Football League on Wednesday.
Dryden played in their own zone for most of the first half resulting in great field possession for the Reivers and two short touchdown runs.
The Eagles defence was equally as strong as they made several key stops however Kildonan East capitalized on opportunities on special teams to secure the win.
Dryden’s Carter McKinstry was named defensive player of the game.
The Reivers finished an undefeated 10-0 season, while Dryden had much to be proud of and finished at 7 and 3.
Coach Geoff Zilkalns says, “Thanks to all the seniors who held transition back into the Winnipeg HS football league and set the norms for the years to come.”
