Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout have received provincial funding to help victims of crime.
A total of $177,415 will be used to create three training videos as well as a trauma-informed approach checklist tool for police to use when completing interviews and statements with survivors of human trafficking and intimate partner violence.
The videos will include input from experts in the field including crown attorneys, prosecutors and psychologists.
The videos will be shared with the Ontario Police Video Training Alliance for distribution to over 90 participating police agencies across Canada.
In addition, a training conference will be held for police and other service providers, with presentations from experts and survivors.
