A community-based exercise program designed by physiotherapists for those with mobility issues is quietly flying under the radar in Dryden.
Occupational Therapist Susan Traini is trying to raise awareness and encouraging people to take part.
Traini says the Together in Movement and Exercise Program (TIME) is a free, 8-12 week program, with one or two 1 hour classes a week.
“This program was originally developed for adults who’ve had a stroke but it’s now open to any adult who has challenges with balance and mobility. The classes consist of balance training, functional mobility training, functional strengthening, and aerobic training.”
Traini says the program is led by two local fitness instructors at the Dryden Rec. Centre. (Rae-ann Stevens and Lynn Robinson)
Traini says she’s seen positive results with participants becoming more confident physically and emotionally.
“By attending an exercise program at a community centre frequented by people of all ages, the TIME program keeps people moving in an active, social environment. Promoting health, wellness and confidence in mobility.”
To register or for more information call the Rec. Centre at 223-1430.
