Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce is welcoming students back to what he calls a normal, stable and enjoyable school year.
Lecce says kids can experience a normal experience after two years of pandemic disruptions.
He believes the government has taken action to help them catch up.
Lecce says they are providing students with expanded tutoring and mental health supports and preparing them for the jobs of tomorrow.
He says they are emphasizing STEM learning, the skilled trades, and teaching students a brand new math and science curriculum that includes concepts of budgeting, credit and other real world applications.
Lecce adds he’s fully committed to a stable return to class without disruption through to the end of June.
Teachers are back to school without new contracts while education workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees are prepared for a strike vote in a couple of weeks.
