The Superior International Junior Hockey League has released its 2022-2023 schedule.
Opening day is Friday September 23 with the reigning champion Red Lake Miners visiting Wisconsin and Dryden GM hosting the playoff runner-up Kam River Fighting Walleye.
It’s a bit of a wait for hockey fans in Sioux Lookout as the Bombers won’t play their first ever regular season game until Saturday October 1, a home match-up with Wisconsin.
The first home game for Red Lake is September 30 against Fort Frances.
The seven teams will play a 54 game schedule with the top seed earning a first-round playoff bye.
For the second straight year there won’t be a regional playdown and the winner of the Bill Salonen Cup will go directly to the national championships in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.
