It was a tragic start to the long weekend in the Rainy River area.
One person died following a collision involving two personal watercrafts Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:30 on Rainy Lake and Provincial Police with support from the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office responded.
Members of the public attempted life-saving measures before the unconscious victim was transported to the Rainy Lake Medical Centre in International Falls, Minnesota.
OPP say 65 year old Brian Craig Sanders of Fort Frances was pronounced dead a short time later.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
A post-mortem exam is scheduled for a later date.
