Two Estevan power-play goals midway through the second period was the difference as the hometown Bruins defeated the Red Lake Miners 6-2 Monday night.
It was 3-2 up until the 11:33 mark thanks to goals from Jordan Baranesky and Ryan Hunter.
That’s when Estevan struck twice with the man advantage in a less than two minute span.
Kiev Kineshanko was solid in net making 33 saves, while the Miners fired 25 on Bruins goalie Boston Bilous.
The loss drops Red Lake’s record to 0-3 and officially eliminates them from the tournament.
They will play their final game of the Centennial Cup Tuesday night at 8:30 against Quebec champion Collège Français de Longueuil (1-1-1).
