Northwest Catholic District School Board trustees are expected to see a budget for the next school year in June.
Superintendent of Business Laura Mills says she is proposing to bring forward a deficit budget.
“One per cent. We can go to a one per cent deficit in order to start utilizing some of our accumulated surplus as well as start to really provide our maximum supports that we can to our system and our students.”
Mills says the fiscal document will also be based an enrolment of 1,229 which is slightly lower than the number of students now attending class.
“We are already starting to see that enrolment is growing and is fluctuating and moving around a little bit since we did our initial call out and projections. But we’ll take those into consideration come the Fall.”
