A northwestern Ontario athlete has shown his strength and is a world champion for the second year.
Thunder Bay’s Ben Thompson has successfully defended his title of “Silver Dollar Deadlift World Champion.”
Thompson lifted 1,270 pounds to set a new open class world record, and hold off the 46 other athletes competing.
The event lasted the month of April and submissions were submitted virtually with strict rules so international athletes didn’t have to travel due to the pandemic.
