Mayor and Council have declared a State of Emergency in Red Lake.
The decision was made Tuesday morning due to flooding, washouts and damage in various areas throughout the Municipality.
A prepared statement reads: The purpose of this emergency declaration is to create public awareness and to ensure these events are acknowledged and recognized by the provincial and/or federal levels of government. In addition, this declaration may provide funding recovery opportunities for
costs incurred by the Municipality as a result of any damage caused by these events.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation with new developments occurring.
Effective immediately and until further notice Young Street will be closed at Paisick Crescent due to a washout.
Municipal officials a clearly marked detour is available via Howey Bay Road and Dupont Druve
Frustration has been growing in the Red Lake/Ear Falls area since Saturday with multiple closures of Highway 105 and the community being isolated.
The latest report still has the road fully closed 20 kilometres south of the community at Hopperstad Road-South Bay on Gull Rock (E).
The other washout is Highway 105 Vermilion Bay from Highway 17 to Highway 609.
Both lanes are closed but there is detour in that area.
A reminder in the Dryden area, Highway 605 between Highway 17 and Rugby Lake (End of Highway) remains fully closed due to flooding.
