The City of Thunder Bay is welcoming flooding evacuees from Kashechewan First Nation.
A number of communities have been asked by the province to open their doors to residents as the community near James Bay deals with high levels of water.
Mayor Bill Mauro says they have confirmed, following talks with emergency services providers, that the City has sufficient resources to address needs that may arise during the evacuation.
Thunder Bay will receive approximately 400 guests.
The response is a coordinated effort in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, Department of Indigenous Services Canada, Ontario Health North, and the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Ontario.
