An exciting new venture has arrived in the City of Dryden.
AgriTech North held a successful soft opening this week at its 250 Duke Street location.
CEO Ben Feagin Jr. says their farming hydroponics system uses 90 per cent less water, 60 per cent less nutrients, and no pesticides,
He says the facility has about 2,000 square feet of grow space with 900 towers that can yield over 450 kilograms of produce every week with greens, culinary herbs and other products.
Feagin Jr. says they will be able to provide fresh produce year-round, contributing to the resolution of food insecurity throughout northwestern Ontario.
He notes they worked closely with Economic Development Manager Tyler Peacock to launch the business.
The first seed will go in Friday and AgriTech North plans to begin its first harvest in May.
Feagin Jr. says May 26 is the target date for delivery of the first subscription boxes will be delivered.

Feagin Jr. notes this is just the beginning as they have big expansion plans.
“A Greenhouse facility, potentially at the Airport, over 100,000 square feet with 60,000 square feet of grow space and more vertical farms. This will allow us to meet a much wider food insecurity crisis needs in our region.”
They have also partnered with another local company, 3 Points in Space Media, to use drones to deliver food baskets to communities across the northwest.
