What a way to kick-off March break for students, teachers and administration at Open Roads Public School in Dryden!!
Yes the week-long break from the classroom will be on after Friday but really the atmosphere at Open Roads will present like it’s already underway tomorrow.
Open Roads will be holding a ‘Boot Hop’ to help raise funds for a project that I started a while ago.
The project involves the purchase of life enhancing Touch2Play devices for Dryden’s long term care home and Dryden Regional Health Centre. The Touch2Play devices will be of great value for Seniors and Seniors with Dementia and Alzheimers who reside at DRHC and Princess Court. You can read more about the project here: https://gofund.me/3eeefd6d
My project has a deep connection and meaning. My mother, who has dementia, is in a long term care home in Southern Ontario. While visiting her earlier this year I saw these incredible devices and what they can do. So much good!
I made it my mission this year to bring a few of these to Northwestern Ontario! With the help of many in the fundraiser so far it has been truly heart-warming and incredible to see the compassion and love for others to help. And now with this fundraising event added this week by Open Roads more of you will be aware.

Many thanks to Teri Jackson at Open Roads School who has helped move the Friday event forward!
Also I would like to mention that if you want to send your kids to school at Open Roads tomorrow with more than just a dollar or 5 dollars…..every single cent that you give….100% will go directly to the funds to purchase Touch2Play units. I guarentee it. Thank you so much for your kindness and consideration.
If you don’t have kids who attend Open Roads School but would still like to make a contribution you can do so through this link and also learn more: https://gofund.me/3eeefd6d
If you wish instead to send an EMT for the fund please send to mccarthy.richard@radioabl.ca
Thank you again and again Open Roads Public School!! Your compassion for others is amazing and heartfelt.
It doesn’t matter what you give….but it matters that you do.
Here’s what Open Roads student Taylor Ismond and Vice Principal Teri Jackson had to say about Friday’s event……
