The Dryden GM Ice Dogs let one slip away Friday night.
The Ice Dogs blew a 4-1 third period lead and dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the league worst Fort Frances Lakers on home ice.
Four of the five Lakers goals, including the game winner in extra time and the game tying goal, came on the power-play.
Dryden GM opened with a 2-0 first period lead thanks to a Cameron Ware shorthanded goal and a Brady Frattinger power-play goal.
Maxime Collette scored with the man advantage 16 seconds into the second frame and Jordan Gagnon gave Dryden GM a three goal lead with his first SIJHL goal.
However, the Lakers came alive in the final period and capitalized on their opportunities to tie the game.
With Derek Koivisto in the penalty box, Ethan Elgie scored the winner 55 seconds into the extra frame to win it for Fort Frances.
Ethan Hein was the story in this one making 61 saves for the victory.
Eric Clark stopped 40 shots for the Ice Dogs.
The rematch is Saturday at 7:30 at the Memorial Arena.
The Red Lake Miners also was forced to play come back in their game against Kam River.
The Miners were down 5-2 but battled back to make it a one goal game only to come up short in a 5-4 setback on the road.
Jordan Baraneksy led Red Lake with a pair of goals, while Ryan Hunter and Jake Parker added singles.
Kiev Kineshanko suffered the loss making 35 saves.
The two teams meet again Saturday at 6:30 central.
