Another call for area residents to remain vigilant despite COVID-19 restrictions easing.
With case numbers still high across the region, the Red Lake Hospital is encouraging community members to be cautious.
Health Officials say they are “very concerned about the impact that this may have on our small Hospital”.
“Over the last few weeks, Red Lake Hospital has seen more COVID-19 cases in our Emergency Department and Patient Wing, than at any other time during the pandemic,” said Chief Executive Officer Sue LeBeau. “Also, a significant number of staff have been affected, due to community transmission.”
As a result, the hospital is currently operating with very limited human resources.
Officials also remind residents Red Lake is in a rural and remote area with only one Hospital and therefore a limited number of healthcare staff to begin with.
Should this continue, officials warn the hospital may be at risk of not being able to meet standards of care and services.
It’s the Hospital’s hope that community members will make responsible decisions and keep up with public health measures, as they continue to keep the facility safe for their patients.
