A COVID outbreak has been declared over at the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
Officials are reporting 10 straight days of no new positive cases directly related to the outbreak.
Hospital President and CEO Heather Lee says by using their dedicated COVID isolation unit and expanding infection control measures, the outbreak management team acted quickly to see it contained in a short period of time.
Lee says they also have daily screening and are following personal protective equipment standards.
The hospital has its mandatory vaccination policy in place for staff, physicians and visitors.
Lee says the vaccination policy for visitors/essential care partners does not apply to patients seeking care and no patients will be turned away if they are not fully vaccinated.
“We want to take this time to remind the public to continue practicing public health guidelines, get vaccinated, wear a mask and be safe,” says Lee.
Visitor restrictions have been partially lifted at this time.
