You couldn’t help but hear all the chatter about the snowfall that happened……in Southern Ontario yesterday. Yeah we got some in Sunset Country but what happened in Southern Ontario received top-billing on radio, tv and social media. It was a ‘nightmare’ for residents there.
Meanwhile I couldn’t help but grab and enjoy a bucket of popcorn while I watched the scenes on the Weather Network and viewed some video and pictures that my Southern Ontario sisters sent me. After all the folks who live in that part of the province are often portrayed as ignorant when it comes to knowledge of Ontario actually extending north of North Bay let alone Toronto. Glad we could give them a taste of Northwestern Ontario hospitality!!
As I mentioned, I have sisters who live in Southern Ontario. My sister Kim lives in Stratford and sent me this video yesterday that she took while outside on her front step.
Looks like a ‘disaster’ for them while for us in Sunset Country we’d be disappointed that we could barely run our snowmachines on that. Anyone ‘down there’ actually own a snowmachine let alone know what they are?!? Can I get another bucket of popcorn please…..
Meanwhile bit of a different story for the younger sister Brenda in Grimsby (still ‘down there’) where they received quite a bit more of the white stuff than Stratford as evidenced in her picture below. She swears the family didn’t sculpt the snow that way and that she didn’t photoshop the scene. Note to sister Brenda: please clean all the snow off your vehicle before heading out on the freeway. If you don’t have a snowbrush….use your hairdryer. We don’t want you appearing on the News speeding to have the wind ‘dust it off’. No one down there does that….right?
Brenda said Grimsby was forecast to get about 60 centimetres! Hey that’s enough to build an igloo like we do here in Northwestern Ontario every November and May. If you Southern Ontario folks need instructions on how to do that just ask….or google. Can I get another bucket of popcorn please?
My family – 2 sisters and parents are orginally from Geraldton northeast of Thunder Bay so not a big deal for them now ‘down there’ in Southern Ontario right? As sister Brenda said on her Facebook “Can’t take the North out of this girl. Still love a snow storm.”
Fast forward to this morning and oh would you look at that! Northwestern Ontario is expected to get another 10 to 15 centimetres of snow today and area school buses have been cancelled!! Yippee skippy. Wonder if this system will eventually reach Southern Ontario? If it does….I’ll have my 4th bucket of popcorn ready! I hope my sisters and everyone else…..enjoy!! Stay safe.
Maybe we should ship some snowmachines to our family and friends in Southern Ontario, send them that link to online igloo building instructions and last but not least…..a bucket of popcorn!
