The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting 84 new cases of COVID-19 Friday with the majority in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub area.
40 of the new positive test results are in the Sioux Lookout Hub, there’s 32 in the Kenora Hub, six in the Red Lake, five in the Dryden, two in the Fort Frances and one in the Atikokan Hub areas.
There are also three more hospitalizations, with nine people now being treated for COVID-19 in the region.
This brings the total active case count to 307 compared to 259 Thursday.

At the same time, Nishnawbe Aski-Nation is calling for urgent response from the province and Canada as cases rise in First Nation communities.
Bearskin Lake has declared a State of Emergency due to an outbreak with at least 53 cases and 25 homes under isolation, as of Thursday December 30.
In the Thunder Bay District there are 97 new cases making for 380 active.
Another jump in cases across the province COVID-19 case count.
There are 16,713 new infections in Ontario, the highest daily case count ever recorded, and 205 in ICU.
