Christmas came early at the the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital.
The Red Lake and Ear Falls Lions Club have helped purchase new X-Ray equipment in collaboration with Lions Club International Foundation, the Red Lake Hospital Foundation and Red Lake Hospital Auxiliary and Moskwa Family.
“The X-ray fundraising project has been the most memhttps://lnkr.fm/CaoN2orable effort during my time as a Lion,” says Dave Hay, President of the Red Lake Lions. “The teamwork of Lions Club International Foundation, Ear Falls and Red Lake Lions Clubs was amazing. Serving communities in need is a proud Lion heritage. Lions are involved in almost every community and with the support of LCIF we can get big projects done.”
The Hospital’s current equipment was due to be replaced, to keep up with technological advances.
Red Lake, Ear Falls, Wabauskang First Nation and surrounding areas depend on Red Lake Hospital to provide high-quality x-ray services and the new equipment includes a table, which is easier for patients to access.
It also includes a portable machine which can be rolled to patients’ rooms or the Emergency Department, making it easier for staff to use.
Lions Immediate Past District Governor Shirley Koroniak adds “I feel honoured to have been part of this amazing project. I can’t thank Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) enough for their support in this project, in the form of $100,000 US grant. It had a huge impact on the outcome. Between LCIF and all the partners, Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital now has a state-of-the-art radiology department … and only the 5th in all of Canada to implement this equipment. WOW! I had the privilege of attending the grand opening and it was so wonderful to see the excitement in the technicians as they demonstrated the new equipment. Congratulations to everyone involved in this amazing project.”
