The Dryden GM Ice Dogs outlasted the Wisconsin Lumberjacks 10-5 Saturday in a wild, crazy, hard hitting and emotional game.
The Ice Dogs at one point owned a 7-1 lead and appeared to be easily on their way to another win, but the undermanned Lumberjacks refused to go away.
Wisconsin went 4/13 on the power-play, while Dryden GM was 2/5.
However, the Ice Dogs gained the advantage with two short-handed goals.
They now have 8 on the season, while Wisconsin has allowed 8.
Brady Frattinger was the number one star for Dryden GM with 2 goals and 3 assists.
Tyler Earl was second star with 1 goal and 2 assists, while third star Jackson Jacques also had a goal and 2 assists.
Also finding the back of the net was Maxime Collette, Rachonne Henry, Cameron Ware, Lee Lang, Tristan Takats and Ondrej Bardos.
Mason Matthew, coming over from Thief River Falls, made 28 saves for the win.
The win was the eighth straight for the surging Ice Dogs.
Dryden GM has now scored 119 goals on the season, 28 more than the next best team.
They are tied with Thunder Bay for second in the SIJHL standings with 29 points, only four points back of Thief River Falls.
The North Stars downed Thief River Falls 6-2.
It was a special game for Dryden GM as the team kicked-off 20 Anniversary celebrations with the start of its ‘Our Pack Honours’.
The longest serving team in the league is celebrating the builders of the team and the difference makers since day one.
The first person inducted into the special class was no surprise as local, regional and national legend Bill Salonen was recognized.
