A financial boost for Dryden’s cancer care unit.
The Dryden Regional Health Centre has received a Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation grant of $10,832 to purchase three chemotherapy IV infusion pumps.
“We’re always really thankful and happy that we have the opportunity as a regional cancer program to apply to this foundation and receive some money, certainty our patients are lucky to benefit from this grant,” says Chief Executive Officer and President of DRHC Doreen Armstrong Ross.
“These (IV pumps) are the latest and greatest technology with all the safety features and features that are needed for giving those high risk medications like are given in oncology units,” explains Armstrong Ross.
Funding was made possible by donors to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation and proceeds from the Thunder Bay 50/50 draw.
“Our community and the program really support the oncology unit in so many ways and we really are thankful for the support we do get,” adds Armstrong Ross. “It is unfortunately a very well-used department in our organization and it really is a great example of getting care close to home.”
Kenora and Fort Frances hospitals are also benefiting from the following grants:
- $6,616 to purchase a CADD Infusion Pump – Regional Cancer Care Kenora
- $100,000 towards a central water purification system for dialysis – Fort Frances Renal Program (La Verendrye Hospital – Riverside Health Care in Fort Frances)
