Noah Broughton scored midway through the first period and Jordan Smith was sensational stopping 42 shots to lead the Thunder Bay North Stars to a 2-0 win over the Kam River Fighting Walleye in the SIJHL Wednesday night.
Hunter Foreshew would ice the game with an empty net goal.
The North Stars are now three points ahead of Dryden GM in the standings and only one back of first place Kam River and Red Lake.
The Ice Dogs head to Wisconsin Friday and the Fighting Walleye host the Miners.
