Twins Lawrence and Duncan MacKinnon were seventeen when they joined the army.
They were members of the “Princess Patricia Light Infantry”
They never saw service overseas but were actually on a troop ship in Vancouver being deployed to fight in the Far East when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
After the war they were proud Legion members. They could be seen side by side for many years carrying the colours on Remembrance Day.
We will remember them, along with our uncles Dan MacKinnon and Jock Ferguson, veterans who fought for freedom in Europe.
On November 11, we will also remember our cousin Leonard Leach who gave his life for his country.
