New Gold says it is still on target to meet revised year-end production targets.
Just over 58 thousand ounces of gold were produced at its Rainy River mine during the last three months.
That’s about 5 thousand ounces lower than what was produced at the mine during the same period in 2020.
New Gold says production was hampered by some maintenance activities at the mill.
By the end of September, just over 166 thousand ounces of gold have come out of the Rainy River Mine.
The company says the mine is still position to meet its revised target of 240 thousand to 255 thousand ounces by the end of the year.
“The third quarter had its challenges, particularly as Rainy River addressed the grade reconciliation issues experienced in July and August,” says New Gold President and Chief Executive Officer Renaud Adams. “Rainy River’s third quarter gold grade was up 10% compared to the first half, and with lower contribution expected from the East Lobe in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter, we should see a step-up in production and a stronger finish to the year at Rainy River.”
