Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is now required at a few more settings in Ontario.
“A reminder that effective October 13 (today) proof of vaccination or an eligible medical exemption will be required to attend social gatherings or receptions associated with weddings or funerals in a meeting or event space,” explains Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit Dr. Kit Young Hoon.
Wedding or funeral services, rites and ceremonies are exempt from having to show you’re fully vaccinated.
Dr. Young Hoon continues, “The individual(s) responsible for the operations of the setting (establishment) do have to ensure that there’s some process in place. So there usually should be someone at the entrance checking to see if you’re vaccinated, have documentation and government issues I.D.”
A grace period was allowed from September 22 to October 13 to show a negative COVID-19 test as the province laid out proof of vaccination rules.
Another requirement goes into effect tomorrow (October 14) for certain participants of indoor sports across all seven Northern Ontario Public Health Units.
“Anyone aged 12 and older that enters an indoor facility to coach, volunteer or to officiate will be required to show proof of vaccination or a valid medical exemption,” says Dr. Young Hoon.
