Wednesday is McHappy Day at McDonalds.
Proceeds from any purchase will support families with sick children at Ronald McDonald homes across the country, including Winnipeg.
Dryden franchisee Brett O’Mearah was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Monday.
“This is our 27th McHappy Day in Canada if you can believe that. Since 1981 we’ve served 425,000 families across Canada and over 26,000 per year.”
O’Mearah is hoping to surpass $6,000 in donations at the Dryden location this year.
He stresses local residents show overwhelming support and pride of community every year when supporting McHappy Day.
O’Mearah notes there are other ways to help on Wednesday.
“We’re always selling hearts for a couple of dollars. You get a little digital message with that from a celebrity. We’re also allowing you to round up your meal by adding an additional $5 and you get a collectable pair of socks. You can also round up to the nearest dollar.”
O’Mearah notes a number of local kids have travelled to Winnipeg over the years to attend the Ronald McDonald House.
