He’s a towering figure on the ice and now he will have a towering presence in the locker room.
Twenty year old Cameron Ware has been named captain of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs for the upcoming season.
Ware is 6’6 and 215 pounds and hails from Bright’s Grove, Ontario.
He says, “Really honoured to become the captain of the Ice Dogs this year. I’ve never been a captain for any other team and I wouldn’t want to be a captain with any other team. I really loved it here last year and I think we have a great group of guys coming back and I think we have a really good shot of going really far this season.”
Ware adds, “Hopefully I can get the guys to kind of rally around and do their thing but I’m not really worried about performing this year because I have faith in the guys that we will have a great year.”
He had three goals in four games last season, including a short-handed marker and a power-play goal.
The Ice Dogs open their 20th season Friday, September 17 at home against the Fort Frances Lakers.
