The number of active forest fires in the northwest continues to drop.
Fifty-five continue to burn, but none are of any concern.
There are no fires that are considered out of control at this time.
This is the first time since May with no fires that are classed as out of control.
Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Information Officer Chris Marchand says the possibility of more new starts is also diminishing.
“As always, it depends on the weather but we’re in to sort of a more seasonal trend, away from the summer sort of heat wave situation that really escalated our fire situation.”
Marchand says wet weather and cooler temperatures have helped temper the situation in the last few days.
He believes the number of actives will continue to drop with more rain in the forecast.
